I bought this as we love all JD books but discovered that it has a really great message. We ended up giving this to the little nieces and nephews in effort to help them as they come to grips with a special needs

However he finds that his mumbled requests generate a succession of unusual and unexpected creatures. It turns out that the fairy is reading lips - that's why his mumbling keeps making the wishes go wrong.
