This local mainstay is hidden away, just a couple blocks from the capitol, with deals on sets and hardcovers. It's closed on Mondays and the first 7 days of every month.

Wedge, who is 71, wasn't sure how much longer he could keep the store between Lark Street and the Empire State Plaza going, raising the possibility that Dove and Hudson might not survive — and what a terrible shame that would be. Well, some good news: Wedge has sold the store to Joseph Nathan, who fully intends to keep the space operating as a bookstore. More good news: The former owner and his trademark fedora will continue to mind the store three days or so a week, work that Wedge described as his "retirement hobby.
