Poem of the week: The Bridal Morn | Books | The GuardianView Book Info Page. Genre: Historical: European , Romance. Caution warning: period-typical homophobia, mentions of suicidal inclinations, sexual harassment, mentions of abuse. It really pleased me to see things switched up this way. I also adored the scenes where Sophie had to negotiate her mixed feelings in love. There were a few moments where it felt like the author had retrofitted a decision character trait to change what had already been established in the first novel.
