Russ Romano is a BOC certified athletic trainer who has served as the director of the department of athletic medicine at the University of Southern California since 1998. While providing athletic training services for football at USC, Romano has been part of 2 national championships, 10 conference championships, 7 Rose Bowls, 3 Heisman Trophy Winners and 140 NFL draftees, including 30 first round picks. In 2008, Russ completed a yearlong fellowship in Applied Functional Science at the Gray Institute to Functional Transformation. In addition to authoring/coauthoring publications that have appeared in peer reviewed medical journals, Russ has served as an Associate Editor for Neurosurgery in the sports and rehabilitation section. He has also reviewed journal manuscripts for World Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Journal of Athletic Training, and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Russ Romano is the principal member of the Keck School of Medicine USC Neuro-restoration Center and also serves on the PAC 12 Brain Trauma Task Force. Romano works collaboratively with Charles Liu, MD PhD in the evaluation, treatment, research and utilization of technologies aimed at brain health.
